Most pregnancy advice assumes you can call your midwife or 911 and someone comes. This workbook plans for when that isn’t true: when help is slow, cut off, or not coming for weeks. Calm, practical and large print, for expecting mothers and the partner or helper beside them.

Four situations, one plan

Every danger page tells you what to do when help is reachable, when help is slow, when help is cut off, and when you’re on your own for weeks.

What’s inside (59 pages)

Prepare now (11 guides): questions for your care team, three hospitals and routes, the medical people near you, what to do when phones fail, your birth team, records, water, food and medicines, a clean birth kit, leaving early, shelters
Danger signs (4 pages): urgent warning signs, baby moving less, high blood pressure and seizures, bleeding and early labor
Emergency obstetric first aid (11 pages): signs birth is close, the clean birth, the first minute (including newborn rescue breaths), the cord and placenta, bleeding after birth, the cord coming first, breech, a placenta that won’t come, small or early babies, tears and infection
Bunker sanitation (5 pages): handwashing without taps, the two-bucket toilet, boiling, bleach and sterile tools, your clean birth corner, air, heat and fumes
The first 30 days (7 pages): a 30-day supply plan, mother’s recovery, baby’s first month, feeding in a disaster, safe sleep anywhere, the newborn care your baby missed, and your mind
11 fill-in plans including a labor log, a birth record for medical staff and a 30-day daily check, plus help notes for a runner and a “Pregnant or new baby: need help” window sign

Fillable PDF: type and save, or print and write by hand. Large, easy-to-read print. US Letter, prints fine on A4.

Every step is based on public guidance from the CDC, WHO, ACOG, NICHD, AAP, Hesperian Health Guides and others, with 46 linked sources.
